Frequently Asked Questions

What is Grimsby Pride?
Grimsby Pride is a committee run charity & non-profit organisation with the aim of raising awareness and social integration of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) and other strains of the diverse communities within the North East Lincolnshire area. One of the ways we do this is by holding a one day event every year which consists of many stage performances from singers, dancers, bands and demonstrations. There are also various stalls and a variety of information stands offering many different services. We have a licensed bar and food court to make sure all our visitors are fed and watered throughout the day. Have a look at our previous events in our photo gallery.
When is Pride?

We’re on a gap year. There will not be a Grimsby Pride event this year (details can be found here), however we will be holding some smaller fund raising events throughout the year (head over to our Facebook events page for more info).

Where is Pride?

There will not be a Grimsby Pride 2016 event, however the smaller fundraising events will be located in various places. Check our social networks and website for more details.

How much does it cost to attend Pride?

Should we find enough money to cover the whole cost, entry will be free. See event advertising for individual event costs.

Can I bring alcohol?
No. There will be a fully stocked bar on site with a wide variety of drinks, but due to safety, security, insurances and licences, you are not allowed to bring alcohol into Meridian Park. If you attempt to bring alcohol into the venue, it will be confiscated and disposed of. If you are found in the venue with alcohol that was brought in, this will also be confiscated and you will be ejected from Meridian Park, unable to return for the remainder of the day. (This includes vodka jellies).
Can I bring food?
Yes. You are welcome to bring any ‘ready to eat’ food. (This does NOT include vodka jellies). As well as a large food outlet selling everything from burgers to salads, there will be plenty of room for you to sit down, relax and have a picnic. However, you are not permitted to bring or use and type of BBQ or cooking appliance on site.
Can I bring my pets?
No. Unfortunately no animals are allowed on site (unless authorised by North East Lincolnshire Pride). Only guide dogs are allowed into the venue.
How do I volunteer?
We are looking for volunteers to help out on the day, as well as other events like the Cleethorpes Carnival. Click here for more information or to register your interest of becoming a volunteer.
Are there any age restrictions?
All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over at all times. As this is a ‘Family Fun’ day, we are expecting a wide range in ages and we have done our best to accommodate everything from the little toddlers to those in their golden years.
Who's behind Pride?
North East Lincolnshire Pride is the name of the committee and organisation responsible for Grimsby Pride. The committee consists of 6 members who deal with everything from Health & Safety to Entertainment. All our members are volunteers who give there spare time to help where ever they can to create the magic that is Grimsby Pride.
Why is Grimsby Pride held in Cleethorpes?
I think everyone at some point has asked this question and the simply answer is venue. Although the event is called Grimsby Pride, it doesn’t mean it should be limited to that town. The committee and organisation is called North East Lincolnshire Pride as this is the area we serve, however we trade as Grimsby Pride to preserve the roots from where we originated (and it’s less of a mouth full). Our first Pride event was held in Grimsby but due to the success the venue could not handle the demand. When looking for a new venue there were many things to consider, size, transport links and utilities to name but a few. After looking at many locations, Meridian Park had everything we were looking for, including room to expand.
What happens if it rains?
We have ordered a brilliant summers day, however if this doesn’t deliver we will do our best to keep the event going. If its just odd/light showers, everything will carry on as normal. Worse comes to worse and the weather is making the event unsafe to continue, the event will be cancelled. Depending on the time and the forecast, the event maybe reopened or moved to an alternative venue.
Can I bring a chair?
Yes. Providing it’s not an actual sofa, you are welcome to bring a folding camping style chair. If you do, please take it with you when leaving, as we are unable to re-home them.
Can I bring a gazebo?
No. Unfortunately you are not permitted to bring a gazebo. However, umbrellas are ok.
Is there camping?

No, not yet. One year though…
